Returning to a former love - 2007/01/29 18:32
Hi everyone!
As a young teenager I became interested in the classical guitar. My father was able to pay for lessons until I got tired of going every week. I still kept up with playing and practicing the guitar. My favorites back then were John Williams, Julian Bream, and Chris Parkening, and of course, Andre. I also enjoyed listening to Laurindo Almeida and Chet Atkins play classical music.
I kept up the guitar until my early 20's. After going into the Christian ministry, I set the guitar aside & took up organ & piano.
About 3 years ago I was encouraged to take up the guitar again (I'm in my 50's). To my surprise I found the long neglected love returning. I had and have to make myself sit at a keyboard to practice. But with the guitar I have to make myself put it down.
I've taken up some of my old classical studies, and have been playing alot from the "Fingerstyle" magazine. But I find that classical guitar is what I enjoy practicing the most.
Thanks for the great web site. I hope I'm not intruding just being an amateur.

PS: I currently live in the great state of West Virginia. Most folks around here like flat picking steel string guitar. So I'm kind of a loner being interested in fingerpicking and classical style playing.
