Your first Classical Guitar CD/LP - 2006/07/08 16:46 Glad to see this new forum. I thought I'd try and get the discussions going.

An obvious first choice starter is the classic "What was your first Classical Guitar CD or LP?"

Mine was John Williams "Echoes of Spain", an Albeniz collection. I was a high school rock/metal player and was reading a lot of guitar magazines. As I became more aware of other styles I decided to buy several LPs to see what was out there. So I bought that one and a couple of Jazz releases. 3 years later I was a classical guitar major. I didn't stick with it as a career but still play for fun years later.

Re:Your first Classical Guitar CD/LP - 2006/07/08 22:53 My favourite guitarist is also John Williams. When I first enrolled for lessons with my guitar teacher many years ago, I bought three casette tapes: John Williams, Julian Bream and Narcisso Yepes.

Of them, John Williams made the most impression on me. He seems to play so beautifully.

Not long ago I bought some more of his music that includes Bach pieces.

If I have to make a choice of only one guitarist to listen to, it would be John Williams.

Re:Your first Classical Guitar CD/LP - 2006/07/31 18:53 Mine was Julian Bream's LP "The Classic Style." Funny, I just listened to it yesterday for the first time in years, and it still sounds better than most modern digital recordings! (Not to mention his wonderful playing...)
