The first camp was a great success. So, don't miss out on this years Second Rocky Mountain Guitar Camp: "Andy & Friends". Read on for more details... Featuring Andrew York, Dusan Bogdanovic, Bryan Johanson, and Gyan Riley, the year's camp will focus on the guitarist as composer and improviser. The camp includes private lessons, small group classes and guitar orchestra (we'll be performing Bryan's"Concerto Grosso" for three soloists and guitar orchestra.) There's also plenty of free time for practice, guided hikes, mountain biking, trail rides, guided hikes, or just relaxing in Wyoming's beautiful Snowy Range Mountains.

Last year’s camp with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet was a great success! We all enjoyed fabulous concerts by the guys from LAGQ, informative classes and lessons, hikes in the mountains, and delicious meals. And now, thanks to the guitar orchestra, we can boast that we performed on stage with LAGQ!

For this year’s camp we wanted similarities from last year, but some new discoveries, too. So we asked Andy to invite some of his favorite guitarist/composers. “Andy & Friends.” We are extremely honored to have Dusan Bogdanovich, Bryan Johanson and Gyan Riley joining us and know that they’ll impress you too.

We’re keeping the best of last year, and adding some new things as well. As so many of you requested, we’re keeping the small class sizes, private lessons and guitar orchestra from last year. We’re keeping the concerts in the intimate space of the lodge. We’re also keeping Ron & Sue in the kitchen and adding a barista for your coffee needs. We’ll be keeping the hikes but adding some shorter, slower and lower elevation versions. For our opening night concert, we’ve invited Sikuri de UW, a fantastic panpipe ensemble to perform. The mountain, stars and rainbows – those are keepers, too. We’re keeping the horses and if you want to rent a mountain bike for the week, contact me directly.

You know guitarist/composer/improviser Andy’s work as a soloist on GSP and with LAGQ. If you were at camp last year, you also know him as a great teacher, hiking companion and hunter of mushrooms.

I asked Andy what he thought this year’s camp should be about. His succinct reply: ”Beauty”. Beauty. That’s easy enough. There’s the beauty of music performed by world–class artists. There’s the beauty of sharing music and making friends from around the world. There’s the beauty of the camp nestled in Wyoming’s Snowy Range Mountains. Or in hiking by a lake above tree line surrounded by towering peaks. Or taking a trail ride through the sagebrush, aspen and lodge pole pine.

So that’s it. Four of the worlds best classical guitarist/composers who share a dedication to teaching; set at a rustic camp in the Snowy Range Mountains of Wyoming. Beautiful music, a lovely natural setting, great food and good friends. Join again, or for the first time, won’t you? If you have any questions at all, please contact me directly.
