Antonio Dominguez16 to 19 August 2006, El Barraco, Avila – Spain

The second International Guitar course "Áureo Herrero" will take place from 16 to 19 August 2006. In this second course we will have with us guitarrist Antonio Domínguez Buitrao, a disciple of Áureo Herrero's, of international renown. The course will focus on the most representative works of Segovia's repertoire (Turina, Moreno-Torroba, Ponce, Castelnuevo-Tedesco, Villalobos, Tansman,etc.) which make up the greatest achievement of the brilliant Andrés Segovia for the guitar of the twentieth century.

Antonio Dominguez was born in Madrid. He studied guitar with the Master Aureo Herrero in the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid as external student. During his studies, he received some mentions of excellence, culminating with the Exceptional Prize at Final Course. At the same time, he won some national and international awards; among them it is important to underline Spanish Young Interpreters Award, International Award of Francisco Tárrega (Spain), International Award Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brasil), Young Interpreters Award Kiwanis Romand (Switzerland), etc.

Then, he continued his studies in the High Conservatory of Geneve (Switzerland). He obtained the so-called Diplôme de Culture Musicale, which includes certificates of Harmony, Counterpoint and Composition.

Promoted in the international scene, he participated in many concerts and festivals, including the concert at Carnegie Hall of New York (1986), Guild Hall Preston and Dudley Town Hall with The English Philharmonic Orchestra (1987), Myra Hess Concert in Chicago (1997) which is part of a twelve concert tour throughout United States, etc.

In 2000, the well-known concert agency Hörtnagel invited him to play in Munich and Nuremberg, in duet (pipes of Pan) and in quartet (Ensemble Kordepan).

He participated in International Festivals of Delft (Holland), Zelt-Freibuerg (Germany), Varna and Bourgas (Bulgaria), Campos de Jordao and Sao Luis (Brasil), Folia-Rougemont (Switzerland), etc.

in the same way, he has produced some recordings for several radios and televisions in Switzerland, Bulgaria, France (duet Kettarah, concert in Gilly Castle, Mezzo 2003 produced by Media France), etc.
